Candle holders for block candles

Step 1

Cut the leather strap into size, so it fits the width of your candles. You can wrap the leather strap around your candle and determine, how much additional length you need to add for the rivets.

The corners of the leather straps can be cut into any shape, you want. We chose to cut off the corners as a pretty detail.

Step 2

Once you have cut one of the leather straps into shape, you can use it as a template for the remaining leather straps. This way, all the ends will end up being identical.

Step 3

Mark out where the holes for the rivets will be placed and use a rotary punch tool for punching out the holes. To get the holes levelled in each side, fold the leather, and mark out where the hole has to be placed. 

Step 4

Install the rivets. You will need both a top and a bottom.

Step 5

Place a piece of leather scrap between the hammer and rivet to avoid damaging the rivets or the leather.

Step 6

If you want to use the candle holders for Advent, you can make four templates with the numbers 1-4. Make the bottom of the numbers as big as possible, so that it’s possible to hide the magnet. Remember to reverse the numbers laterally. Sketch out the numbers on the leather using a pencil. Cut out the numbers in the leather.

Step 7

Attach one part of the magnet to the numbers by using glue.

Step 8

Leave the glue to dry and place the other part of the magnet on the inner side of the candle holder. The magnets will hold the numbers in place.
