Glasses case in leather

Learn how to make your own glasses case made from leather with this DIY tutorial.

Step 1

Download and print out the template further down this page. Cut out template A and B by using a pair of paper scissors. Mark out where the seams will be by rolling the space maker on top of the paper template onto the leather.

Sketch out the templates on the leather. NB: remember to reverse template A laterally. Cut the templates out by using a knife or a pair of scissors.

Place the paper template onto the leather once more and mark out where the seams will be by using an awl. Make a small dot with the awl.

Step 4

Remove the paper from the leather and use your awl to puncture the holes all the way through the leather. Remember turning the diamond pointed awl correctly.

Cut out two holes for setting the snaps. See the markings on template A for reference.

Install the snap.

Attach part B to part A by sewing them together. See on the templates where to attach.

Use a Japanese stitching groover with its guide attached, to make a crease around the “ear”. Use the space maker afterwards to mark out, where the stitches will be.

Glue on the sides. See on template A where to attach.

Make the stitching holes using an awl and sew on the sides afterwards.

Cut out a hole for the last part of the snap and attach it onto the case afterwards. If your glasses are on the smaller side, it can be necessary to adjust the placement of the snap.

Step 12

This glasses case fits sunglasses the size of a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. If your glasses or sunglasses are large, you'll have to adjust the measurements of the templates.
