This diamond-shaped awl can be used for all leather work, where you want to sew with saddle stitch. The awl must be attached to an awl handle to create a good grip and to make it easier to pierce through the leather. When hand sewing leather with saddle stitch, you can mark where the holes need to be by first rolling a space marker along the leather edges.
