These chisels are available with different numbers of prongs, all of which are 3.5 mm wide. The prongs of the chisels have a 45-degree angle that is perfect for saddle stitch, as they create a nice and uniform seam. When making stitching holes for saddle stitch, first a crease must be made by either using a creaser or a wing divider. The chisel must then be hammered through the crease on the leather with a rawhide maul, as it does not damage the metal and it has a shock-absorbing effect.
