This diamond-shaped awl can be used for all leather work, where you want to use saddle stitch. The wooden handle has two flat surfaces that provide a good grip and control, and it makes it easier to keep the awl at the right angle, so that an even seam is achieved. When using saddle stitch, first use a creaser or a wing divider to make a crease along the edges of the leather. Then roll a space marker in the crease, after which the diagonal marks must be driven through with the awl.
