This stainless-steel chisel is perfect for lacing and weaving projects. The sharp blade makes perfect holes when pressed through the leather. If the chisel is to be used to make holes in a thick material, it can be made easier by using a hammer or a rawhide maul.
It has a rough handle that ensures a good grip so that it does not slip in your hands. The chisel is available in five different widths: 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 mm.

To facilitate the workflow when braiding, you can use a braiding needle, which you can also find here in the web shop.

Instructions for weave-pattern on leather
There is quite a lot of preparation before you can make the holes with your chisel and start weaving. But if you are meticulous with the drawing which is explained below, you will get a nice result.
1.    Mark on the back of the leather the area you would like to weave.

2.    Draw vertical lines in the marked area with a distance corresponding to the width of the chisel you have chosen.

3.    You must now draw small horizontal lines, where you are going to make holes with the chisel and weave through. Draw lines with alternately the width of the chisel + 2 mm and only the width of the chisel. That is, if you have chosen a chisel of 10 mm, you draw lines alternating between 12 mm and 10 mm spacing.
See the red lines on the signature explanation.

4.    In the next row you do the same, but you start with a distance corresponding to the width of the for – so that the lines are offset. See the green lines on the signature explanation.

5.    When all the red and green lines have been drawn, place the chisel on top of each line and push it through. In thicker material, it may be necessary to use a hammer. Please remember to use a cutting board beneath your work.

6.    Cut strips of leather the same width as the chisel you have chosen and a length slightly longer than your finish work.

7.    Weave up and down. Start so the leather strip is on top of the areas marked with an X. See the signature explanation.
To make weaving easier, you can use a braiding needle.
