TOKO Dye is an effective water-based leather dye, especially suited for colouring undyed or natural vegetable-tanned leather.

Its very thin consistency makes it easy to apply in smooth, even layers.

TOKO Dye can be used on the grain side, flesh side, and edges of the leather. It works on both vegetable-tanned and chrome-tanned leather – as long as the surface is open and absorbent. The colours can be mixed to create exactly the shade you want.

• Note: Dye may be difficult to remove from hands and flooring – remember to protect your workspace

 

How to use

• Ensure the leather is degreased and clean – use for example leather dye thinner or rubbing alcohol

• Apply the dye with a wool dauber, soft tip, cloth, brush or sponge – depending on the size of the project

• Allow to dry, then wipe with a soft cloth to remove any excess

• For a deeper, more intense colour, apply additional layers

Note: Always test the dye on an inconspicuous area before dyeing the full piece.

 

Finishing

For a smooth and polished finish – especially on edges – TOKO Burnishing Cream is recommended.

After dyeing, allow the leather to dry for approximately 24 hours before applying Leather’s Choice leather conditioner. Ensure the colour is completely dry before applying balm. It protects the surface and keeps the leather supple.

TOKO Tough Coat can be applied once the paint has dried to achieve either a more matte or glossy finish.
