Parchment leather
Parchment leather is a stiff, semi-transparent rawhide often used to make drums and lamps. To shape the skin, it is softened in water, after which it is dried. The parchment-tanned hide becomes stiff and hard again, just as it was before the softening process.

Parchment skin is a piece of quality leather from the traditional German tannery, August Renz, a family business with roots dating back to 1888. The impressive legacy continues today with three generations actively involved in running the business. It contributes to an up-to-date transition between tradition and modern, sustainable leather production.

August Renz dedicates itself exclusively to the production of vegetable tanned leather, and all production processes take place in their tannery in southern Germany.
