A swivel knife is used for decorative carving in vegetable-tanned leather. The knife is used to cut the lines that form the foundation for patterns, ornaments and carved designs. Before carving, the leather is lightly moistened (cased) so the cuts become clean and well defined, providing a good base for further tooling.

The knife consists of a handle with a swivel yoke and a replaceable blade. The index finger rests in the yoke while the thumb and middle finger guide the knife. This construction allows the blade to rotate freely, giving excellent control and making it easier to follow both straight lines and smooth curves in the design.

The cut lines can then be shaped and emphasized with bevelers, stamping tools and other leathercraft tools.

  • This swivel knife is not adjustable, which means the handle length cannot be changed.
  • Straight blade (9.5 mm) included with protective cap.
  • Additional blades can be purchased separately – available in both straight and angled versions and in several widths.
