Leather’s Choice leather dye is recommended for dyeing natural coloured aniline leather and for redyeing aniline dyed leather or hides, but only into a darker tone.

The dye is not suitable for dyeing suede and cannot be used on leather/leather that has already been dyed with leather paint.

Facts

• Alcohol-based

• Consistency: Thin as water

• The dye penetrates the leather

• Leather’s Choice leather dye can also be used on other materials, such as wood and canvas

• All leather that can absorb can be dyed. If necessary, do a test with a damp cloth.

• You can change the colour of your item with leather dye, but only to a darker colour.

• We do not recommend using it to dye cracks/crackling on leather goods that have previously been dyed with leather dye.

• Leather dye can be used on both vegetable tanned and chrome tanned leather with an open surface

• The colours can be mixed.

• The colour may fade when exposed to sunlight.

• Remember to cover and protect hands, floors, etc. when you are dyeing with Pro Dye, as it is difficult to get off.

Application

• To achieve the best possible result, you must make sure that what is to be dyed is degreased. That is to say, cleaned with, for example, paint thinner or alcohol.

• Leather dye is applied with a wool brush, soft tip, brush, cloth, or sponge, depending on the size of the item.

• After dyeing and the colour is dry, it is important to wipe with a soft cloth.

Pros

• Good coverage.

• There is no smudging nor rub-off of dye if the steps above are followed.

• Apply leather dye in several coats to produce a deeper and more intense colour.

Leather grease after dyeing:

The dyed product must dry approx. a day before it is subsequently treated with leather grease. It is very important that the dye is completely dry. Using leather grease after dyeing will help maintain the flexibility of the surface.

Always do a test in a non-visible place before you start.

Thinner for leather dye

• The thinner can also be used for cleaning the leather goods before dyeing it.

• The dye can be diluted with thinners, it will not give a lighter colour, but a weaker colour. That is, the black colour does not become grey, and the blue colour does not become light blue, but the colour intensity becomes weaker.
