Leather paint is recommended for items that have already been treated with dye, primarily furniture and car interiors.

 

 

Facts

• Leather paint is a full-coverage acrylic-based paint.

• The paint does not penetrate the leather.

• Is not nourishing.

• With leather paint it is possible to change the colour, both from lighter to darker and vice versa.

• For applying leather paint, we recommend using a brush or a paint roller. The finer the bristles of the brush, the better the result, as it will prevent brush streaks.

• Can be used on both vegetable- and chrome-tanned leather and hides.

• Remember to cover hands, floors, etc., as leather paint is difficult to get off.

 

 

 

Application

• Suitable for re-dyeing, for example, furniture and car interiors.

 

 

Pros

• There is no smudging nor rub-off of dye if the steps above are followed.

• The paints can be mixed.

• The colour is flexible, which means that it does not crack.

• The colour is lightfast, that is, it does not fade.

 

 

Instructions

If the product to be dyed has scratches or cracks, we recommend the following workflow:

1. Sand with 180 grit sandpaper.

2. Clean with Strong cleaner and let the item dry.

3. Paint the item and let it dry

4. Lightly sand with 600-800 grit sandpaper.

5. Paint the item again and let it dry. When the item is completely dry, polish it with a soft cloth.

 

If you want to change the colour of an item, it is best to give several thin layers, rather than one thick one.

 

 

 

Always do a test in an inconspicuous place before you start.

 

 

 

Leather grease after dyeing:

The painted product must dry approx. a day before it is subsequently treated with leather grease. It is very important that the paint is completely dry. Using leather grease after dyeing will help maintain the flexibility of the surface. Apply only a thin layer.
